According to PLOS the first recorded case of COVID-19 was likely November 17, 2019. According to Google there have been 618 million cases, and 6.55 million deaths.
Again according to Google France has had:
While Canada has had:
As a percentage of the population, France had about half as many infections as Canada, but about twice as many deaths.
In any event, after 2 years, 10 months, and 14 days it seems that COVID has finally caught up with me.
Thinking about it, when I arrived in France most people were still masking, and lining up outside shops to minimise the number of people inside. It felt very much like the approach taken in much of BC at the same time.
This summer though, all that care tended to fall apart. It was sunny, the sidewalk cafés were open, festivals were happening, and everyone seemed healthy and happy.
Now the numbers in France are climbing again, and masks are once again becoming common. Let’s hope it’s enough to keep this wave of COVID under control.
