Yesterday I had cause to explore knee-replacement surgery in Nova Scotia. The government of that province offered these statistics:
So roughly one year to see a consultant, and another year for the actual surgery. If you’re our age those are pretty distressing numbers.
Out of idle curiosity I asked people on Strictly Santé France Facebook group how long the wait was between being approved for replacement, and having it done:
Whoa! So what exactly are the French doing that Canada chooses to ignore?
That's an excellent and serious question that I'd be interested in knowing the answer to. What IS the difference? Physician pay? Aging population differences? Healthier Frenchmen who, perhaps, lead less arthritic lives due to atmospheric conditions?
